TIL that weird noise near Marfa Texas turned out to be real after 18 years

I spent my whole life rolling my eyes at alien talk, especially after hearing about those Marfa lights in the 90s. But last summer I drove through there during a job moving some equipment to El Paso, and I saw them myself. No cars, no planes, no explanation - just three orange orbs dancing around the horizon for a solid 20 minutes. My buddy Dave was in the passenger seat and he saw the same thing, so I know it wasnt just me being tired from the drive. Now I'm not saying it's little green men or anything, but something is going on out there that we dont understand. Has anyone else seen those lights and just had to change their whole viewpoint? What do you think they actually are?

Wait were those the lights in the 90s or did that start way earlier?

Wait were those the lights" - yeah those started way earlier, in the 80s actually. I had a set of fiber optic lights from a garage sale that were from like 1987 and they worked fine. My advice is check the bulbs first, those little push-in ones get loose over time.

Speaking of those push-in bulbs, I spent a whole Saturday last month trying to fix a strand that only half lit up. Turns out my cat had knocked the box off a shelf and loosened half of them. @nancyg14 is right, it's always the simple things. By the time I got the last one pushed back in, the damn things were already blinking red and green at me like they knew they'd won.
