Wasted $150 on a ghost hunting app that was just a glorified FM radio
I fell for one of those paranormal investigation apps you see advertised on late night TV. Paid $150 for the full version and spent two weeks walking around abandoned barns in Ohio with my buddy Mark. Turns out the app was just picking up radio frequencies and random static, not spirits at all. I compared it to an actual SDR radio receiver and got the exact same sounds. Total scam and I felt like an idiot when I figured it out. Has anyone else gotten ripped off by one of these fake ghost hunting tools?

@caseythompson I just love that my $150 investment turned me into a glorified AM radio technician with a really expensive spirit box.

Did you actually try using the thing properly before you trashed it? I bought the same app a few months ago and after some trial and error I picked up some wild EVPs in my basement that static alone would never explain. You can't just wave it around in a barn and expect results. These tools take practice and a real open mind, not just skepticism and a comparison to radio frequencies. Maybe those abandoned barns in Ohio really do have spirits but your attitude shut it all down before you gave it a fair shot.

Are we really debating whether a phone app is catching ghosts or just picking up stray radio signals? I mean, come on, you're talking about hearing EVPs in your basement like it's proof of something, but have you ever actually tested it in a controlled setting? Turn on the app in a room with no one around and no electronics, then tell me what you get. Chances are it's just picking up interference or your own brain trying to make sense of random noise. I'm not saying there's nothing out there, but let's be real - these gadgets are about as reliable as my old car's radio scanning for a good station. You can practice all you want, but if you're hearing "spirits" in static, maybe you're the one not being open minded enough to question if it's just your own expectation talking.
