Dubbed or subbed for my first watch of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, and I picked wrong
Two months ago I finally sat down to start Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, and I stood in front of my TV for like ten minutes debating dubbed vs subbed. I went with dubbed because I wanted to fold laundry while watching, and honestly the voice acting felt flat to me by episode 5. My buddy Dan, who has seen the show 4 times, told me the sub hits way harder in the emotional scenes and now I'm wondering if I ruined my first watch. I'm 12 episodes in and debating whether to restart in sub or just push through. Has anyone here switched mid show and actually enjoyed it more, or do I just finish what I started?
Does it really matter that much though? You're 12 episodes in and you already know the story, so restarting now just means rewatching stuff you've seen instead of finding out what happens next. Dan's opinion is Dan's opinion, the sub isn't some magic version that unlocks feelings the dub can't reach. Honestly half the people who swear by subs just watched it that way first, so that's what feels right to them. Finish the dub, and if you ever rewatch it down the road, try the sub then.
