Serious question, had to pick between a rewatch of 'Monster' or starting 'Legend of the Galactic Heroes' for the first time.

Went with the 'Monster' rewatch because I remembered a specific scene in episode 7 that always hits different. How do you usually decide between a comfort rewatch and tackling a new classic?

How many times have you stared at your list, knowing you should start that big new show, but your brain just screams for a specific old scene? I get what the_rowan means about going with what your brain can handle. Sometimes you just need to know exactly what you're getting, like that perfect tension in Monster when Tenma is in the library. Starting something huge like Legend of the Galactic Heroes feels like homework for a night you're too tired for class. The comfort rewatch always wins when you need a sure thing, not a potential chore.

Comfort rewatch vs new classic" is a real mood. I usually just go with whatever my brain feels like it can handle that night.
