So I tried to explain the plot of 'Evangelion' to my mom at a family dinner

We were at my aunt's house in Phoenix, and my mom asked what I was watching. I started with 'giant robots fight angels' but then had to get into the human instrumentality project. Her face went from confused to horrified in about 60 seconds, especially when I mentioned the tang. Now, whenever I talk about anime around her, she just asks if it's 'one of the sad robot ones'. Anyone else have a family member who got a totally wrong idea about a show from your explanation?

My sister still asks if every cartoon I watch is "the one where the kid's dad puts his soul in a robot" after my failed End of Evangelion talk. I feel you and drew_hart4, it's like we accidentally created the worst movie trailers for our families. They just lock onto the one messed up detail and run with it forever.
