Spent 3 months hunting for an anime where the villain actually wins at the end

I kept scrolling past shows where the good guys always pull through, so I started looking for something different. It took me three whole months of asking on forums and reading spoilers just to find a handful of series where the bad guy comes out on top. Anyone else feel like that kind of ending is way harder to find than it should be?

My cousin spent like six months tracking down every single anime where the hero dies at the end. He found maybe five total and one of them was just a dream sequence that got him real mad. Reminds me of when I tried to find a movie where the dog doesn't die and I just gave up after a week. Sometimes you gotta wonder if creators are scared to let the villain have a proper victory or if they think audiences just can't handle it.

Ward, that dog thing hit me hard. I actually started keeping a list on my phone of movies where the dog lives because I got so sick of it. What worked for me was just googling "no dog dies" and "animal lives" with the movie title. It's not perfect but it cut down the angry searches by a lot. Your cousin's anime hunt sounds brutal though, especially that dream sequence bait and switch. I swear half the time they just kill the hero offscreen or leave it vague so they can say "well technically he might have survived.

@ward.kim that's the real trick with vague endings honestly, they get to claim a happy exit while keeping the downer option open.
