The Crunchyroll days vs streaming now - it's not even close

I remember back in like 2007 having to wait for fansub groups to release episodes on IRC or sketchy torrent sites. If a sub was bad or a translation was wrong, you just had to live with it. Now I pay 10 bucks a month for Crunchyroll and get simulcasts with decent subs popping up an hour after airing. A friend told me last month they never had to deal with raw files being 240p or episodes getting delayed by 3 days because the translator was sick. Has anyone else here ever sat through a fansub that used 'desu' in English text because the translator gave up? That was rough.

Man I still have nightmares about watching Naruto in 144p with "believe it" subtitles every other line... felt like I was learning Japanese through bad fan translations.

Yo @drewr15 remember that friend who swore they watched all of Shippuden on a 3DS browser? Yeah. He kept saying Sasuke said "I'm going to cut you real bad" instead of whatever the real line was. Crazy part is he still uses "believe it" in real conversations. Dude unironically tells people he's "going to cut them real bad" when he's mad. We don't let him pick the anime anymore.

Dude @drewr15 that 144p thing is brutal. Mine watched it on a phone from 2009.
