Man, I feel that. How do you even start to explain the weird parts without sounding totally unhinged? I tried telling my mom about a show once and her eyes just glazed over. Sticking to the simple version is smart, saves everyone a headache. Do you ever get the urge to try and explain it anyway, or is it just not worth the effort?

Yeah, explaining Evangelion to family is rough. I just stick to "giant robots fight monsters" and leave out the existential dread. It saves a lot of confused stares.
