Used to hate slice-of-life anime until last month...

I went to a watch party at my friend's apartment in Austin and they put on Non Non Biyori. Three episodes in I realized I was actually enjoying the slow pace and little character moments instead of waiting for action scenes. Has anyone else had a specific show flip their opinion on a whole genre?

Wait, you had the exact same experience as my buddy Dave? He went to the same kind of watch party in Denver, they put on Laid-Back Camp, and he spent the whole first episode checking his phone. But by the fourth episode he was texting me about how he wanted to go camping and buy a little stove like the one in the show. It was WEIRD because Dave is the guy who only watches attack on titan and demon slayer, you know? He even bought a Japanese camping magazine off eBay because of that show and now his whole living room has those little camping chairs and a tiny grill. He told me he used to think slice of life was boring but now he says it's like a "mental vacation" from all the high stakes drama.
