Finally got that twisted branch right after 45 mins of fighting it

Had this huge pin oak limb that was all twisted up at the crotch, took me way longer than it should have to figure out the right cut to keep it from binding on the saw. Anyone else find themselves wrestling with weird grain patterns on oaks more than other trees?

Oaks always seem to have that hidden twist waiting for you, especially on the big limbs. Once the saw starts binding it's just a whole different ballgame compared to maples or pines.

Three wedges in my saw kit at all times for exactly this reason. Pop one in the kerf as soon as you feel that saw start to grab and it buys you enough room to finish the cut clean. Saved me from busting up more than a few fence panels that way.

Wrestled with an oak limb for so long once my neighbor came over to see what all the cussing was about. Turned out the chain was loose and the whole thing was binding up way worse than it needed to. Got it sorted but then the branch twisted as it fell and took out a section of my fence. Oaks are just ornery trees I swear, they know when you're in a hurry and they make you pay for it.
