I switched from a standard climbing rope to a 16-strand arborist line for removals and the difference is huge.

My buddy's arborist line snapped last week.

Ray_williams makes a good point about shock load, but the right arborist line is a game changer for speed and feel.

Got to agree with you on the shock load point. The 16-strand lines have less stretch than standard climbing ropes, so when a heavy branch catches you off guard, that impact hits your tie-in point a lot harder. I've seen guys get yanked around pretty good when they didn't account for that difference. But once you get used to it and adjust your cutting technique, the lower friction and faster work speed really do make a big difference on removals where you're moving around the tree constantly.

Interesting. I've always found the standard rope handles shock loads better when you're chunking down big pieces.
