I thought those tree growth regulators were just a fancy gimmick

A client in Springfield insisted we try Cambistat on a big oak near their driveway last year, and I was pretty doubtful. After the first season, the shoot growth was way shorter and the tree looked healthier with less stress. Has anyone else seen results that made them change their mind on a product like that?

Yeah, the root slowdown Gavin mentioned is a huge deal. I've seen it turn a yearly sidewalk repair job into maybe every three or four years. It doesn't stop the roots, but it gives you a much longer window to work with.

We used a similar method on a maple tree. Bought us a solid five years before we had to look at the sidewalk again.

Yeah, it works. I've used it on stressed trees near sidewalks and the roots slow down too.

Remember how everyone said those root barriers were useless too?
