I've been climbing with my lanyard on the wrong side for years, just figured it out

I was watching a training video from a company in Oregon and noticed the climber had his lanyard clipped on his left side. I've always had mine on the right. It got me thinking about dominant hands and how it might affect my balance and cuts. Which side do you all run your lanyard on and why?

Ever try it on the left to see if it's better?

Well that's a solid decade of my life I can't get back. I always clipped mine on the right too, just felt natural. Maybe we've been making every cut the hard way?

My old foreman in the redwoods swore by the left side lanyard, said it kept his right arm free for the saw without the strap getting in the way. I tried it for a season and it just felt wrong, like putting my boots on the wrong feet. I went back to the right side because muscle memory from bucking on the ground just took over. Funny how those little habits get locked in so deep.
