Spotted a big difference in young oaks after switching to cage guards
Honestly, I planted 40 oaks in a new development near Dayton two springs ago and lost half to deer rubs by fall. Last October I put 5 foot wire cages on the survivors, and this summer the bark is already smooth and unbroken. Anyone else see that caging makes that much of a difference in just one growing season?

My oaks didn't even make it to the caging stage. The deer treated my saplings like a salad bar and a scratching post in the same week. Glad yours are bouncing back, mine just became expensive mulch.
