Tried a silky saw on a big oak last week and it changed how I cut

I usually go straight for the chainsaw but that branch was in a tight spot between two fence posts. The silky cut through cleaner and faster than I expected, and I didn't have to clean up sawdust everywhere. Has anyone else swapped to hand saws for certain jobs and stuck with it?

You had a silky saw already on hand for that or did you buy one specifically for the tight spot? I keep a folding pruning saw in my truck for those awkward cuts but never tried it on something as thick as a branch. Was the oak green or seasoned when you cut it?

Did you find the folding saw got through it alright, or did it bind up on you? I've used a pruning saw on green oak before and it actually went smoother than I expected. The bark can be trickier than the wood itself sometimes.

Did you ever try it on a piece that was more of a knotty mess? I used to think those folding saws would just bind right up on green wood with any twist to it. But I had to cut through a thick oak branch that was still alive last fall, and my Silky saw went through it no problem. I was honestly surprised, because it was about the same thickness as your branch and I figured I'd be fighting with it the whole time.
