Vent: lost a whole maple removal bid because I lowballed by $900
Spent most of Tuesday on a big silver maple removal over in Garner, big dead limbs hanging over a fence and a shed. I walked the yard, measured the spread, figured a 3-man crew and a full day with the chipper. Quoted $2,400 because things felt slow that month. Homeowner called back Friday and said the other guy came in at $3,300 and asked why my number was so low, like I was hiding something. So I lost the job for being the cheap option, still can't believe it. I've been doing this 11 years and that one stung worse than a straight rejection. Guess I need to start pricing like I actually want to eat. How do you all handle a client who gets spooked by a low bid?
