Wasted $200 on a fancy battery-powered pole pruner last spring
It died halfway through my second big pruning job and I had to finish with my old manual pole saw anyway, so who else has had electric gear let them down at the worst time?

Electric tools that die on the job are like getting a flat tire on the way to a free vacation. I bought a battery powered hedge trimmer once and it started smoking after like 15 minutes of use. Had to throw it in the driveway and finish with my rusty hand shears, which is never a good look. That feeling of dropping serious cash on something that gives up mid-swing is a special kind of frustration.

Honestly, "smoking after 15 minutes" is about the worst product review you can get. Sounds like that trimmer was trying to join a barbecue on the job instead of trimming hedges. @jamesf29, you made the right call tossing it in the driveway before your whole garage went up in smoke. That's definitely not the kind of smoke show you wanna be known for.

My neighbor's dog ate my last pair of decent hand shears last spring. So when my electric trimmer kicked the bucket after ten minutes I was left wrestling a hedge with a pair of kitchen scissors I found in the garage. Probably looked like a crazy person fighting a bush with cutlery.
