Found a cracked vacuum line on my daily driver at 2am in a gas station lot
Pulled into a Shell in Tucson after a long drive and the truck started idling rough, almost stalled at the pump. Popped the hood and there it was, a dry rotted hose near the intake manifold. I had tape and zip ties in the door pocket, got it patched enough to limp home, but I'm wondering if anyone else carries spare vacuum line in their roadside kit now.

Hose clamps fix everything, but have you checked your spare tire pressure lately?

Tape and zip ties get you home, sure, but the real trick is carrying a few feet of the right size hose from the start. Vacuum lines come in different diameters, and the cheap ones rot out fast in Arizona heat. I grabbed a pack of assorted silicone hose off Amazon for like 8 bucks, now I just swap the cracked section right there in the lot. Also worth grabbing a cheap vacuum gauge, you can test the line before you even pull the old one off. Saves you a second trip back to the parts store.
