How an overheating engine changed my mind on flushes
In my early days, I dodged coolant flushes thinking they were pointless. A nasty overheating issue last year showed me how wrong I was. Do you stick to the schedule or wait for signs of trouble?

My old Civic hit 212 degrees on the gauge last summer, and that was the final push. I was like @the_john, putting it off forever. The shop showed me all the sediment in the old fluid, it looked like muddy water. I do a flush every two years now without fail, it's cheap peace of mind. Letting it go just costs you more later when things start to clog up and overheat.

What finally convinced you to try a flush? My old truck taught me the same brutal lesson... ignored the schedule until it was spitting rusty gunk and steaming on the side of the road. The mechanic showed me the clogged radiator and it was a real wake up call. Now I just get it done with the oil change, no questions asked. That one repair bill was way more than a decade of flushes.
