I thought those fancy digital torque wrenches were overpriced gimmicks until I borrowed my buddy's Snap-on for a head gasket job last Saturday
Had to torque down the bolts on a 4.0L straight six in an old Cherokee and the audible click and digital readout saved me from a stripped thread I definitely would have missed with my old beam style, has anyone else had a tool they were dead wrong about that actually made their job easier?

Oh man I totally get that. I was the same way about those little magnetic parts trays, thought they were a waste of money but I got one for Christmas and now I can't work without it. I used to just set bolts on the fender or ground and theyd always roll off into the gravel or get kicked under the car. That tray saves me like 10 minutes of crawling around looking for stuff every time I do a brake job or pull a starter. Its way easier to just grab what I need and not have to wipe dirt off every bolt.

Magnetic trays are great and all, but you gotta watch out with them on older cars where the magnets can mess with some sensors or even demagnetize a flywheel if you set them down wrong. Not saying yours did that but I've seen it happen more than once on those 4.0L Jeeps actually.

Haha yeah no kidding. Dropped a magnetic tray on a flywheel once. Thought I was just being clumsy. Then the truck started running rough. Took me forever to figure out why. Learned that lesson the hard way.
