Just hit 500 brake jobs on my personal log, and the number of times the slide pins were bone dry is still shocking.

Used to think a little drag on the slide pins was no big deal until I helped a friend with his truck. Found one pin totally seized, the pad was worn at a crazy angle. Realized that dry pin was eating the pad and probably hurting his stopping power. Now I check and grease them every single time I have the wheel off, no excuses. It's such a simple thing that makes a real difference, you know?

I did a set of pads for my neighbor last week and his caliper pins had zero grease left. It was just rust and dust in there. I keep a tub of the silicone stuff on my bench just for them now. You would think basic maintenance like that would be common knowledge, but it gets skipped all the time. Makes you wonder how many cars are riding around with sticky brakes because of it.
