Just realized I've been overthinking heater core jobs for years after talking to a retired tech at the parts counter.

He told me, 'Kid, if you spend more than an hour fighting the dash, you missed a bolt or a clip somewhere,' and honestly, that simple advice saved me three hours on a 2012 Civic last Thursday.

That "missed a bolt or a clip" advice is so true. It makes you wonder how many other jobs we overcomplicate just by not stopping to double-check the basics first.

Tell you what, I once spent forty minutes trying to pry a headlight assembly out, getting madder by the second. Finally took a breath, looked up with a flashlight, and saw one tiny plastic tab I'd swear wasn't there before. Felt like the car was gaslighting me.

Man, that hits home. I've been there so many times, just yanking on something that won't budge because I'm sure I got everything. That little voice saying "just walk away and look again" is always right, but I never want to listen. It's crazy how one hidden clip can make you feel like you're taking on a spaceship instead of a car dash. Solidarity, for real.
