My buddy insisted I replace the entire fuel rail on a 2015 F-150 for a rough idle, but a $12 injector cleaning kit from O'Reilly's fixed it in an hour.
He swore the pressure drop meant the rail was cracked, but after I hooked up the cleaner and ran the motor, the misfire cleared right up, saving the customer over $800 in parts and labor.

So @rileygarcia, what's your buddy's next big fix?

Ever feel like your buddy's go-to fix is always the most expensive one? (Mine definitely is, but hey, it keeps me looking smart when the cheap fix works.)

Remember my buddy tried to fix his old truck's rough idle, @rileygarcia. He was ready to replace the whole fuel system for like a grand. I just cleaned the gunk out of the idle air control valve with some spray cleaner from the auto store, cost maybe ten bucks. Truck ran smooth after that. He still brings it up every time something breaks, half mad and half impressed. Makes me feel like a genius for a minute.
