My lead tech in Fresno said torque sticks were junk, and I believed him for 2 years
He told me they'd strip lugs, so I did every wheel by hand with a click wrench. Then I watched a tire guy run 40 trucks through with a good stick and never once overtighten a single one, so now I use one every day. Anyone here actually had a stick bite them, or is the hate just old shop talk?
That whole "strip lugs" thing probably traces back to some shop where the stick was old and worn out, because a stick thats beat to hell is basically a random number generator. Kinda funny how one guy with a bad tool can scare a whole shop off something for years.
