Showerthought: My $400 torque wrench was a total waste of money
Honestly, I bought it thinking it would be the last one I'd ever need, but the digital readout failed after maybe 50 uses. Ngl, my old clicker style for a quarter of the price has never let me down. Anyone else find these fancy digital tools just aren't built for the shop?

Man that's rough... but honestly, is a torque reading really that big a deal for most jobs? I get it for head bolts or something critical, but half the stuff I do just needs to be good and tight. Feels like we get sold on precision we don't always need. My old clicker has been fine for years, even if the number isn't staring me in the face.

You make a fair point about clickers, Michael, but I've seen too many stripped threads and broken bolts from "good and tight." Having the number helps avoid those expensive mistakes, even on simple jobs.

My old Ford's oil pan says otherwise.

My buddy's wheel came off on the highway last month.
