Unpopular opinion: I think the push for fully electric is moving too fast for the average shop

I saw a clear change in my own shop in Dayton over the last 18 months. We went from maybe one EV diagnostic a month to now having three or four a week, and the training and tool costs are steep. I had to spend nearly $8,000 on a new scan tool and high-voltage safety gear just to handle the basics safely. How are smaller shops supposed to keep up with this pace without going under?

My cousin runs a shop in Toledo and said his insurance premium doubled just for the EV coverage. I mean, the tool cost is one thing but the liability is a whole other level.

The parts supply chain is a hidden killer. My buddy in Akron waited 11 weeks for a specific battery cooling line for a common EV model. His lift was tied up the whole time, and the customer's loaner car bill ate all the profit from the job.

Feel that completely. It's a crazy expensive shift. Honestly worried for the smaller guys trying to hang on.
