Vent: I tried flushing my own brake fluid with a $12 hand pump and got a soft pedal for my trouble
Decided to save the $90 the shop in Akron wanted and do the brake flush in my driveway with one of those cheap hand pumps. Pumped about a quart through the lines and the pedal went soft on the test drive, so I had to re-bleed the rear calipers twice before it felt right again. What I learned is that my little pump was pulling air in around the bleeder threads the whole time, and a $6 tube of thread paste would've saved me a whole Saturday. Feels like older cars with the bleeder screws up top were more forgiving, or maybe I just had more time back then. Anyone got a flushed pedal that still felt mushy after the second round, or is it usually a bench bleed you end up doing?
