Found a tiny shortcut in our onboarding flow that saved 30 minutes per customer this week

We were doing this manual data transfer step where our team had to copy customer info from their signup form into our internal dashboard. I noticed the fields matched exactly, so I wrote a simple Zap that auto fills the whole thing. First week using it and we saved about 30 minutes per new customer onboarding. Not a huge deal but it adds up when you do 5 or 6 a day. Has anyone else found a random automation that just clicked without much effort?

You already know the next thing to automate. What else is copy-paste in your day?

Wait, do people actually sit down and think about what to automate next? I used to be the type who just copy-pasted my way through the day without questioning it. But after listening to a few folks here break it down, I started noticing all the little things I do over and over. For example, I was pasting the same customer email greetings every day, so I set up a quick text expander for those. Now I never touch them by hand. Also realized I was copy-pasting my signature block into every document, which took two seconds but added up over a week. It's wild how small stuff eats your time without you noticing until you actually map it out.

You actually used a text expander for your email signature? That is wild to me. I always figured people just had that memorized or typed it out so fast it didn't matter. But now I'm thinking about all the times I've typed "Best regards, Drew" on like 20 emails a day and that adds up to a solid hour over a whole month. It's one of those things that feels too small to bother with until you actually count the seconds. Did you really not realize how often you were doing it until you wrote it down? Because that's the part that's blowing my mind right now.
