Our CRM migration went sideways at 3pm on a Friday and I had to rebuild 200 contact records from a backup
We lost all custom fields when the API mapping failed, I spent the whole weekend manually re-entering data from an export in a Google Sheet, has anyone else had a vendor rollback delete half their pipeline without warning?

Losing a weekend sucks but 200 records is barely a morning of work for most admins. If a vendor rollback deleted pipeline stuff, that means nobody kept local backups or checked the migration before wiping the old system. This whole situation sounds more like poor planning and weak SOPs than a real crisis.

Respectfully disagree. 200 records might mean a whole week's work depending on the system.

How is 200 records barely a morning's work for most admins? That really depends on whether you're running a custom CRM with 30 linked tables or a simple spreadsheet. I've seen systems where each record has attachments, custom workflows, and history logs that take 10 minutes per row to rebuild. Losing a weekend is bad enough, but calling it "poor planning" ignores how easy it is for a vendor to screw up a rollback script and not tell anyone. Not everyone has the luxury of keeping local backups for every single database, especially when the vendor promised it was safe. A real crisis is when a company loses customer orders or compliance data, and blaming the admin for not having a perfect backup plan feels a bit harsh.
