Rant: Our Zapier automation broke and cost us $12k in lost leads

I work at a small SaaS company in Phoenix. Last month our lead scoring workflow in Zapier just stopped working without any warning. We didn't notice for 4 days because the error logs were buried. By the time we caught it, we had 340 unprocessed leads sitting in a dead queue. My boss was furious. Had to manually export everything and re-trigger the automations. Now I check those logs every single morning. Anyone else had a silent failure like this? How do you monitor your integrations?

Yeah, "our Zapier automation broke" sounds like you trusted a robot with 12 grand.

Didn't some company just a few weeks ago lose way more than that on an automation glitch?

I get what you're saying, but calling it "trusting a robot with 12 grand" feels a little harsh. A lot of businesses run thousands of dollars through Zapier without issues, it's not like people are blindly handing cash to a chatbot. The real problem is when you set up a complex automation and don't have a backup plan or monitoring in place. That 12k loss probably wasn't the robot's fault, more like nobody checked if the steps were actually running right for a few days. Automations are tools, not magic.
