Showerthought: My CRM training was basically useless until I watched our actual users
My boss at the time told me to just follow the official documentation from Salesforce when onboarding our new sales team. I spent 3 weeks setting up fields and workflows based on that. Then I sat with the actual sales reps for a day and realized they only used 3 of the 20 fields I created. Anyone else find that vendor documentation sets you up for overbuilding?

20 fields is amateur hour. I've seen people build 60+ and use zero.

60 fields with zero used? That's nuts. I'd be losing sleep over all that wasted effort and wasted space. Did they just build them out of sheer boredom without a plan or something?

Honestly though I think there's something to be said for just building for the sake of building. Sometimes you just want to mess around and see how many fields you can stack without worrying about using them all right away. It's like a creative outlet in a game that's all about grinding anyway.
