Spent 3 hours building a custom dashboard in Metabase. Then my ops guy showed me Looker's drag and drop tool.

I was tweaking SQL queries manually while he built the same report in 12 minutes. Made me question my whole career path honestly. Has anyone else had a vendor tool completely change how you approach reporting?

Vendor demos always look better until you have to actually maintain them.

Oh man, that is so true lol. I remember watching a demo for a CRM system that made everything look like a breeze, then we got it and spent a whole weekend just getting the basic import to not crash. It's like they have a team of ten people polishing everything for that one perfect run, and you get the real version. Solidarity from over here, for sure.
