Tried automating our entire onboarding flow and it backfired hard

Last quarter I set up this full Zapier sequence for new clients. Auto-welcome emails, account creation, training links, the works. Thought I was being smart saving time. But within 2 weeks we had three clients rage-quit because they got buried in automated messages before talking to a real person. One guy said it felt like signing up for a spam list. I learned that human touch points matter more than efficiency especially in the first 30 days. Now I leave gaps for personal check-ins. Has anyone else had automation blow up in their face like this?

Did you ever think about how the automation might be accidentally training clients to ignore your actual human outreach later cause they already got spammed? Lowkey dangerous if you're trying to build trust upfront.

I read somewhere that automation works best when it handles the boring stuff but leaves room for humans to handle the warm fuzzy parts. Sounds like your system skipped the warm fuzzy part entirely. Maybe keeping a simple personal welcome call before the automated stuff kicks in would help.

@owens.anthony nailed it. You basically trained them to ignore you right when trust matters most.
