That $90 butane torch set was a total dud after 3 cooks
I bought one of those fancy butane torches with the wide flame head for searing briskets at home. It was $90 with the canisters, and the first two cooks it worked fine. Then on the third cook, the ignition switch just gave out mid-sear, so I had to finish with a lighter like a caveman. The whole thing felt cheap once the plastic around the trigger started melting from the heat. I ended up going back to my old propane weed burner, which cost $35 and has outlasted every kitchen gadget I own. The torch now sits in a drawer with a broken promise and a half-empty butane can. Has anyone else had better luck with a handheld torch, or is the big burner always the answer?
Honestly, I’ve got a $40 torch that’s basically a glorified lighter now, so I feel your pain. Ngl, I’m just waiting for the day I accidentally set my eyebrows on fire and call it a feature.
