A parent argued over the cost of a safety check.
Felt bad, but safety isn't negotiable.

That "safety isn't negotiable" line is so true. It's crazy how often people try to save money on the important stuff, like with cars or at home.

Hold on, is safety always that big a deal? People used cars without backup cameras for decades and got by fine. At home, a sturdy lock and checking your smoke alarm battery might be enough. Sometimes it feels like companies push expensive fixes for tiny risks. Isn't a lot of it just overkill?

My grandpa drove a 1972 Chevy without airbags or even seatbelts in the back and lived to 89. We spend thousands on car tech for risks that are super small. Look at home stuff too, they sell $300 water alarms for your basement when a $20 one does the same job. A lot of safety marketing is just fear selling, not real life. People got by for a long time without half this stuff and were fine.

Adding a backup cam changed my mind, @hayden_ramirez.
