Back in 2021, a customer brought in a bike with a tubeless setup they'd done themselves... it was a total mess. Now I see at least one a week.

Can't believe it's gotten that common. People really underestimate how tricky tubeless setups can be. That's a wild jump in just a few years.

Remember seeing people struggle for an hour just to get the tire to seat on the rim. Now folks buy a bike off the rack and assume it's ready to roll. The real trouble comes later when they get a small cut and the sealant just sprays everywhere because they never checked the level. It sets them up for a bad time miles from home.

Yeah, the part about the sealant spraying everywhere from a small cut hits home. I've helped a few friends on the trail who were totally stranded by that exact thing. They just never got told you have to top the stuff up every few months. It's a real shame because when it works, tubeless is great, but it's not a fit-and-forget system at all. That bad time miles from home is completely avoidable.
