Customer brought in a bike with a 12 speed chain on a 10 speed cassette
Has anyone else had to talk a customer down after they hit a pothole and blamed the carbon fork for cracking, when the real issue was their tire pressure at 110 psi on a 40mm tire? Last week a guy in Denver brought in a bike with a fork that had a tiny scuff, he was convinced it was totaled. I checked it with a flashlight and a torque wrench, no structural damage at all. Turned out he inflated to the max number printed on the sidewall, because his buddy told him "harder means faster." I set him up at 55 psi and sent him on a test loop around the block, he came back smiling and asked if I could do the same to his other bike. Anyone else keep a floor pump in the shop just to fix bad advice from friends?
