I hit 1,000 bottom bracket overhauls and I'm calling BS on the 'just replace it' crowd

Everyone says to just swap the whole BB when it gets gritty, but I've cleaned and regreased over a thousand of them and most run perfect for another season. Am I missing something, or are people just lazy with their tools?

and a thousand more is just good sense... nothing beats that smooth feeling after a fresh pack of grease.

Totally get it, there's something satisfying about saving a perfectly good part from the trash. I've done plenty of these on old bikes and they always feel smoother after a fresh pack of grease. Why are people so quick to toss something that just needs a little care?
