I torqued stems to 6 Nm by feel for 3 years before a customer's bar slipped
I always figured my wrist was calibrated after doing hundreds of builds, so I never touched the torque wrench on stem bolts. Then a guy came back with his bar twisted 15 degrees after a curb hop at low speed, and when I checked the bolts they were around 3 Nm. So here is the debate: do you trust feel and experience, or does every single bolt get the wrench no matter how many times you have done it? I get that torque wrenches drift and cheap ones lie, but 3 Nm on a faceplate is not a feel thing, that is just loose. What is the actual cutoff in your shop, everything or just carbon and stems?
