My mentor kept a bent spoke on his bench, and now I get why
I used to true wheels by eye and feel alone, chasing the hop until the rim looked straight. Now I hold that old bent spoke against the rim as a fixed reference line, and my side to side error dropped enough that I stopped needing a second pass on 3 of my 4 builds this week. Anyone else keep a junk part around just to measure against?
