Remember when a seized seatpost meant a whole afternoon of swearing?

I was in my garage last winter, trying to fix up a 90s steel frame for a friend. The seatpost was totally stuck... like, welded in there. I tried the old tricks, even a pipe wrench, and just made a mess of the post. Ended up drilling two small holes through the post near the frame, threading a steel rod through them, and using a big breaker bar to twist it out. Took about 3 hours and a lot of patience. It worked, but man, I don't miss those fights. What's your go-to method for a truly frozen post these days?

Yeah, ammonia's the nuclear option for sure. I've had good luck with a mix of acetone and ATF soaking for a few days first, then a big pipe wrench with a cheater bar.

Man, I've been the guy who tries every weird mix in the garage before admitting defeat. Last month I spent three days soaking a bolt in coke, then pb blaster, then heat, feeling like a genius chemist. My neighbor came over, hit it with ammonia, and it spun right off. I felt pretty dumb.

That's a lot of work for something ammonia can fix.
