Thought tubeless was just a gimmick, now I run it on all my bikes
I was pretty skeptical about tubeless tires for years. Thought it was just another way for bike companies to sell us more stuff. But then I got a flat on a group ride last month out near Lake Placid and a buddy loaned me his tubeless wheel to finish the ride. The way it sealed up a small puncture on the spot and held air for the next 15 miles really changed my mind. Has anyone else had that moment where they finally gave in and switched?

One puncture sealing up doesn't really prove much. My buddy's tubeless setup burped all the air out on a sharp corner and left him walking home. Still seems like more hassle than it's worth for casual riding.

Tell that to @phoenix_lewis while he's walking home carrying his bike.

Two years back I watched a guy on a group ride take a corner too hot and his tubeless tire peeled clean off the rim like a banana skin. He ended up with a flat and a twisted spoke that took him an hour to fix on the trail. Maybe tubeless works for some folks but when it fails it fails hard.
