Unpopular opinion: threadlocker on stem bolts is a mistake most new mechanics keep making
I keep seeing guys at the shop in Portland slather blue Loctite on stem bolts during every build, and it drives me nuts because the torque spec alone is what holds them. I measured a customer's faceplate bolts after he used the stuff and they came off 40 percent tighter than the 5 Nm spec, which is how you crack a carbon steerer. Just clean the threads, grease them lightly, and trust the wrench.
