Update: My whole approach to setting up new bikes changed after one bad week
I used to just slap on the pedals, adjust the seat, and call it good when a new bike came out of the box... that was before three came back in a single week with loose cranks and creaky headsets. Now I do a full torque check on every single bolt before it leaves, even on the cheap builds. It adds maybe 15 minutes, but it saves so many headaches. How many of you actually do a full pre-delivery check versus just the basics?

Totally agree, a full torque check is just basic due diligence now lol. Saves you from those awkward callbacks where the customer thinks you messed up.

Yeah, the "basic due diligence" part is spot on, @nancyg14. But calling it just a torque check might sell it short. It's really a full re-check of your own work, not just the torque. You're looking for anything you might have missed the first time, like a forgotten clip or a loose hose. That second look is what actually catches the small stuff before it leaves the bay. It turns a simple step into a real quality control habit.

Read something similar in a trade mag last month about how torque checks cut callback rates by nearly half. @calebc40 might think it's overkill but that stat backs up what @nancyg14 and @logan_mitchell are saying. Ends up being way less hassle than explaining to a customer why their handlebars came loose.
