Appreciation post: my dad's old pill bottles from the 90s had the price stamped right on the label
Helping my mom clean out her bathroom closet last Saturday, I found a shoebox of my dad's old prescriptions from back around 1996, and the price was printed right on each label. One bottle of his heart meds was $14.50 for a 30 day supply, no insurance involved. My mom's on the same kind of drug now and we cheer when the copay comes in under $60. I'm not trying to say everything was cheaper back then, but seeing that number in plain print on a paper label made me feel like we lost something simple along the way. We spent a half hour just reading those old labels and shaking our heads. My mom kept saying she never once had to call and argue with anybody about a price. Does anyone else have old bottles or receipts like this stashed at their parents' place? I'd love to know what stuff went for back then.
