Generic lisinopril vs brand name, my BP numbers told a different story
Last spring my copay went from $4 to $38 because insurance switched me to the generic from the brand when my doctor retired and the new guy wrote it differently... at first I figured it's the same drug, right? After about 6 weeks my morning readings crept up from 128/82 to 142/91. My pharmacist in Columbus said some fillers can change absorption for certain people. I paid out of pocket for the brand one month, $52 at Costco, and within 10 days I was back to 126/80. Has anyone else seen a real difference on their actual numbers, or did I just have a weird batch?
One thing though, generics are supposed to have the same active ingredient but the FDA only requires them to be within 80-125% of the brand for absorption, so your experience actually lines up with that. Could totally be a filler thing, but batch issues do happen, so I wouldn't rule that out either.
