Rant: The pharmacist in Tulsa handed me a $340 receipt and pointed at one line
Picked up my mom's insulin last Tuesday at a pharmacy on 15th Street and the cashier slid the receipt across with a look I won't forget. She tapped the line that read "insurance adjustment" and just said, "call your plan, ask what tier this moved to in January." One 5 minute call later, the same pen was $340 cheaper at a different pharmacy in the same zip code, no coupon needed. The kicker is nobody at the counter is allowed to tell you that, she just did it quiet while the line behind me waited. Has anyone else had a tech slip them a hint like that, and did it actually change what you paid?
That line about "nobody at the counter is allowed to tell you that" hits hard because I had a tech do the opposite once and it cost me. She rang up my kid's antibiotic and I asked if there was a cheaper option since we were paying cash, and she just shrugged and said "that's the price." Found out later the same script was like $12 at a grocery store pharmacy two miles away and the one I was standing in charged $60. I get that they can't always say stuff, but the shrug is what got me, like don't even act like you don't know. Your Tulsa tech risked her job a little to save you $340, that's a real one. I'd go back to that same person every single time just out of loyalty.
