Just noticed a tiny grocery store in Portland gets 10x more foot traffic than the big chain next door by parking their samples cart right at the sidewalk edge
They literally just roll a cart of free mini muffins and coffee out to the curb during lunch rush and it pulls people in off the street like a magnet has anyone else seen a local spot do something this simple that actually works?

Funny you mention that, @roberts.leo. There's a taco cart in Seattle that does the same thing - they just park their grill right on the curb and the smell of chorizo draws people from two blocks away. I watched a guy walk right past a Chipotle to get a $3 taco from them. Little stuff like that gets people's attention more than a big sign does.

Seen the same thing with a hot dog stand near a construction site I was working.

Watch how that little cart changes the whole flow of the sidewalk. It's almost like people just need a tiny excuse to stop and look around. Sometimes the simplest ideas are the ones that work best.
