Rant: My Facebook ad spent $500 and all I got was 2 leads

I set up a targeted campaign for my landscaping business in Phoenix, thinking I'd get a flood of calls. Instead, I paid $250 per lead for two people who never even replied to my follow-up email. Has anyone else had Facebook ads just fail like that, or is it just me?

Same as online dating, you pay a lot and get ignored.

Thats the whole trick nowadays. Everything feels like a paid lottery where you throw money in and hope something sticks. I see it with job applications, dating apps, even trying to get a contractor to call you back. Companies and platforms have figured out you can just charge people for the chance to be noticed, and they dont have to deliver anything. So you pay your fee, send your message, and then its just a black hole. Nobody actually cares about the people on the other end, they just care about collecting payments. Its a pretty miserable system when you step back and look at it.

I read this article the other day that said dating apps make like 5 billion dollars a year from people just trying to get a match. And most of that money comes from guys who never get a single reply. It's basically a pay-to-play system where the house always wins. Same thing happens with those job boards where you pay extra for "premium" applications and still never hear back from anyone. I don't get how this became normal.
