Why does nobody talk about how referral programs are basically a tax on your best customers
My old manager at a shop in Portland told me their "give $20 get $20" program brought in $8,400 in sales but cost them $3,100 in credits, and most people who got referred just bought the cheapest thing and left. Feels like you're paying people to do what happy customers already do for free. Has anyone actually run one of these and seen a real payoff past month two?
